Valknut / Odin's Knot Pin
Valknut / Odin's Knot Pin
The Valknut, also called 'Odin's Knot' was a central symbol of Vikings and ancient Norse folks. Today, it is associated with the modern heathen movement. The word "valknut" translates as Knot of a slain warrior: valr (slain warrior) and 'knut' (knot). It became associated with Odin, the All Father, because slain warriors belong to him. Wearing the Valknut declares the willingness to die for what is right.
This pin began by printing the symbol on parchment paper. It was then sandwiched between the stainless steel setting and a 25mm/1 inch glass cabochon. In a world of mass-produced imported goods, a warrior's symbol like the Valknut should be created by real warriors. These were created by veterans who wore a uniform that declared much the same as the Valknut. That we were willing to die for what is right. We just called him Uncle Sam instead of the All Father.
