Buckeye Pendant

Foraging Buckeyes is an Ohio tradition.  They are bought and sold at many venues.  As the state nut and a symbol of the Ohio State University (OSU), showing off buckeyes is a popular way to show pride.  Unfortunately, most of what is available is often not dried correctly.  Within a short time, they rot from the inside out.  I thought to do a wee bit better.  These are a great gift for your favorite OSU fan.

These have been drilled, dried in a solar kiln, and preserved in Danish wood oil.  I then added bronze tone components to turn them into pendant necklaces.  This prevents rot, adds strength, and provides a nice finish.  But keep in mind, that buckeyes are not rocks.  They will chip and crack if treated harshly.
