The timber from which these pendants were sourced is 30,000 to 50,000 old. The prehistoric Kauri is the oldest wood on earth. During the last Ice Age, Kauri trees as old as 1,200 years at the time fell in swamp conditions in New Zealand. Due to the swamp's acidic nature, the wood was preserved and partially fossilized.
These small pieces are left over from my knife-making efforts. The small wood beads are olivewood from the Holy Lands. I created a total of 7 pairs in this batch during the summer of 2024. Each is slightly different because that is how Mother Nature and my hands work.
