Elder Futhark Antiqued Brass Pendants

The Elder Futhark is the oldest of the runic alphabet.  Each of the 24 characters represents a sound, a letter and a concept. The Elder Futhark was native to the Germanic peoples during the migration period.  They were in wide spread use from the 2nd to the 8th centuries.

In Scandinavia, a shorter form of the Elder Futhark emerged as the Younger or Scandinavian Futhark.  An Anglo-Saxon Futhark can also be identified.  However, lines of clear debarkation from each other are blurred as the characters evolved over hundreds of years.  Sexy Viking went with what seems to be the most agreed upon style of characters.

Each of these 24 characters was engraved into a blank of compressed bamboo.  As a naturally growing material, colors will vary.
