After a moderate traumatic brain injury took my writing and speaking career, I did not give up.  I created an organic specialty pepper farmer.  After the abuse and exploitation that often comes with acquired brain injuries, I was wheelchair bound and abandoned in a camp site with no money, income, or food.  I did not surrender.  I turned a knife making hobby into an income.

After the legs came off, I still did not surrender.  I continued to forge and demonstrate at the Kentucky Highland Renaissance festival.  But something changed.

I was no longer just a guy trying to make a living.  I was a man with a message.  You can do anything if you just don't give up.  With three performances a day, adults and children saw that message as clearly as if spoken on a loud speaker.  They saw a guy with no legs tending a coal forge and anvil.  If I am not one of a kind, I am a member of a very small group.  Then it happened.

Walking fine on my matching prosthetics, I fell through my landlord's rotten wood deck.  My left meniscus was torn and nerve damage to my left arm prevents my left hand  from working properly.  Because I was unable to receive prompt care, I developed severe contractions in my hips and knees.  I can no longer stand, walk, or lift myself into or out of my wheel chair.  But here I am again, only this time I am flanking.

While I am trying to walk again, I've taken to creativity that does not require standing.  The plan is to earn enough with jewelry and other handcrafts to set up a shop that is wheel chair accessible.  All the time promoting the Sexy Viking motto:

Never surrender.
Retreat only to flank."
